I have been writing this website since 2003 as well as providing all funding to keep it running. River Ridge has NEVER paid one single cent towards the upkeep of this website and I have never asked them for money. I had a few monetary contributors for a while and this helped with the upkeep until an announcement was made at a board meeting that I was being paid by RR to maintain this site and of course the contributions stopped. I have gone out of my way to obtain and post accurate information to keep River Ridge property owners informed and I have dealt with so much contention since I started this site. I've been criticized, slandered and even threatened, to say the least, but I endured.
I have recently been informed that the board has started their own website. Of course no one from the board even bothered to let me know they were doing this even after seeing me struggle to keep this website afloat the past few weeks. I was notified of this new site by a third party. After writing this website for 19 years, I have to say I felt a little betrayed. The board made me feel like the only kid on the block who didn't get invited to the birthday party. With everything that has gone on this past year, I shouldn't be surprised.
I guess this was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back. As some of you know by now I have left the hospital and am now officially retired. I have decided to spend what little time I have left on this planet enjoying life. With the cost of living going up every day and trying to survive on a fixed income, financing this site has become a problem, not to mention with my arthritis it's getting difficult to reach around and pull knives out of my back. Since the board has started their own website and only one website is needed, I will be permanently shutting down the Grapevine Now website as of midnight July 15, 2022
For those of you who have supported the website over the years I want to thank you all. I have enjoyed the time I have put into the site but I guess it's time to move on. In the spirit of sportsmanship, I wish the board the best of luck with their new website and hope they really do have the property owners best interests at heart.
For those of you using the Security Program for 911 calls, I will try to keep this program active until further arrangements can be made. I was informed that the same information on the Security Program can be obtained from the TOPS program used at the Association Office. The board member in charge of security will need to contact them for instructions on how to do this.
